Joaquin Martinez, Associate Professor of Chemical Engineering

Joaquin Martinez earned his MSc, PhD and Habilitation in Chemical Engineering from the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), Sweden. He has been a faculty member at KTH since 1980 and is currently Associate Professor of Chemical Engineering. His major research interest lies in the drying of solids containing solvent mixtures, to determine the influence of the process steps on drying selectivity and the development of models to aid the design and optimisation of multicomponent drying equipment. Particular attention has been paid to the effect of the continuous contact mode between the phases on drying selectivity, optimisation of closed-cycle dryers and the mechanisms of simultaneous heat and mass transfer in unsaturated pores in order to determine the transport parameters of porous solids containing liquid mixtures. He has authored or co-authored more than 100 refereed research articles.
